Fire inside the earthen crack in Cox's Bazar

In front of the ongoing development work in front of Cox's Bazar Government College, there was a sudden eruption of lava in the cracked soil.

Pedestrians spotted the eruption just before Iftar on Sunday (April 18) and the matter spread to the area.

In such a situation, the people present at the scene took still images and videos and spread them through social media.  Just as curiosity has arisen about the source of this fire, so has panic.

After an hour-long blaze, firefighters arrived and put out the blaze.  However, even after extinguishing the fire, the smoke was coming out till late at night.

Local businessman Shahi Kamran said pedestrians saw smoke coming out of a hole in the afternoon.  Gradually the space becomes larger in the form of cracks.  Inside the crack, lava looked like coal of fire.  People gathered after the news quickly spread around.  Upon receiving the news, the fire service came and after a long effort brought the fire under control.

Cox's Bazar Fire Station Assistant Director Shahadat Hossain said that after receiving the news, the fire service team sprayed water for about an hour and extinguished the fire.  The place where the lava of fire was seen is the filled area.  There may be a tree or other flammable material under the ground.  When the filled soil bursts, the substance catches fire in one way or another.  The fire service official said that the fire was fresh in the ground for a long time.

However, according to the locals, on the one hand, the railway station, the road leading to the main road, on the other hand, the main road widening and drainage projects are all running together.  Soil is being removed from somewhere and soil is being filled somewhere.  Again, various plastic wastes and dirt are being dumped in those places.  The place where the fire was found was used by the locals and traders as a dustbin.  During the recent road repair work, dirt was buried on the dirt.  BTCL connection cable has also been pulled through that place.  It is thought that the fire was caused by waste and plastic waste or by a cigarette fire.  From here to there the rows of coals of fire have become like lava.

Local UP member Mizanur Rahman Sikder said many elderly educators in the area claim they have never seen such a scene in the past.  People who know about satellite life have seen volcanic lava penetrating the soil in the mountains and fields in different parts of the world, but they have not imagined such a scene on the soil of the country.  The local scholars, the elders have called it a miracle of God.  Through this, Allah may have presented a sample of resurrection or a message for His servants.
